Inside "A Growing Perspective": A Regional Gold House of the Year Home
Every year, the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards put New Zealand's best residential building work under the spotlight. For 2026, one standout is a 300sqm home in Porirua called "A Growing Perspective", built by Abode Homes and awarded Regional Gold in the Wellington & Wairarapa Bunnings New Home $1 million to $1.5 million category.
We're pleased to have supplied the bathroomware throughout this home. Here's a look at the build, and the Newtech products chosen to finish its four-plus bathrooms.
About the Project
Designed with flexibility and long-term liveability in mind, "A Growing Perspective" is a four-bedroom, four-plus-bathroom home positioned to make the most of elevated harbour outlooks over Porirua Harbour, Tītahi Bay and the surrounding hills.
The house is built on a split level, connected by a central lift, and can operate with either an upper or lower-level main suite. That means the owners can shift how they use the home over time without losing comfort or usability, a genuinely practical answer to changing family needs. The layout separates quieter, private zones from the main entertaining spaces, while the movement between levels builds a sense of arrival as you reach the upper living areas.
The kitchen, dining and living spaces are arranged to capture those harbour views, and the kitchen itself was built as both a workspace and a social hub, with extensive storage and a large scullery to support entertaining and everyday life.
Judges recognised the home with Regional Gold, awarded to entries scoring a minimum of 1800 points, a strong result that reflects the standard of building, design and finishing throughout.
The Bathrooms: Newtech Products Used
With four-plus bathrooms across two levels, this home called for bathroomware that could stay consistent in quality and style from the ensuite through to the guest bathroom. Here's what went in.
Brookfield Vanities
The Brookfield range is designed and assembled in New Zealand, with contemporary negative-detail cabinetry and soft-close drawers. It's available in wall-hung and floor-standing configurations, with a wide choice of colours and basin options, which makes it a practical fit for a home with multiple bathrooms that each need their own character while keeping a consistent quality standard.
Newark Bath
The Newark Back-to-Wall Bath brings an ergonomic design with maximum interior space, finished in a high-gloss acrylic. Made from sanitary-grade acrylic and reinforced with fibreglass laminate, it's built for durability as well as day-to-day comfort, a good match for a family home designed to be lived in for years to come.
Broadway Mirrors
The Broadway Mirror range pairs 5mm safety-backed mirror glass with integrated LED lighting and a demister, finished with a touchless sensor switch. Available in rectangular and round formats, Broadway mirrors add a functional, contemporary finish to bathroom spaces without extra clutter.
Casalino Toilet
The Casalino BTW Toilet Suite is a back-to-wall, rimless design built for easy cleaning and low water use, backed by a WELS 4-star rating. With a soft-close slimline seat and dual flush, it's a straightforward, reliable choice for a home with several bathrooms in daily use.
A Home Built to Adapt
What stands out about "A Growing Perspective" is how much thought went into flexibility, from the dual main-suite option to the lift connecting both levels. It's a good example of a build that looks confident today and is planned to keep working for the household well into the future.
Congratulations to Abode Homes on the Regional Gold award, and thank you for choosing Newtech Bathroomware to finish this home.
