A true craftsman will tell you, the finish is everything! We’ve listened to that wisdom and have recently extended our range of finishes available for our heated towel rails and accessories. Since releasing our matte black range of towel rails and accessories, customers have been telling us that they love the flexibility of having more options. This has meant that they can now match their matte black tapware or shower head with their towel rail and toilet roll - a very sharp look! Well, the good news is that we have extended our range of matte-black products, as well as adding a new finish (drum roll please……), ‘Brushed Stainless Steel’. With these new additions to our line-up, we thought it could be a good idea to take a look at what's ‘beneath the surface’ of these new finishes!
One of the big difference between the finishes we offer is the texture. With the traditional polished chrome, you have a highly reflective, smooth surface; very chic and versatile. However, with the matte black and brushed stainless steel finishes you have a more stylised look with a softer appearance. In fact, at a microscopic level, these more matte surfaces are actually remarkably rough. This helps to achieve an even spread of light that results in minimal reflectance - something that we are noticing is very popular these days. Apart from the stylistic differences, matte-surfaced finishes are also less likely to show defined fingerprints or watermarks, meaning they don’t require as regular maintenance to keep clean - something very handy (mind the pun) in a busy household full of kids; including those ‘big kids’.
Some people seem to think that textured finishes such as matte black and brushed stainless steel can scratch more easily than other materials. This is not the case. In fact, any metal coating can scratch if you scrape the surface with something sharp or hard. However, unlike a car, your bathroom accessories live in a fairly controlled environment. The only objects your tapware, towel rail or other accessories should come into contact with are your hands, soft cleaning cloths and towels. One thing that you do need to be conscious of is rings and other jewellery - just be careful when cleaning and handling your products, keeping that bling well out of the way!
Cleaning any matte black or brushed stainless steel products is also super straight forward. We recommend using a soft cloth (such as a microfibre cloth) with some plain ol’ warm soapy water - avoiding any abrasives, waxes, acids, solvents, and chemical-based cleaners. Regular cleaning in this way will ensure that your matte black/brushed aluminium products will retain their stunning appearance for years to come.
So if you are interested in branching out and going with a finish that will turn some heads, definitely consider the 'matte black' and 'brushed stainless steel' finishes now available in a range of our heated towel rails and other accessories!
